Coach Hampton Has worked as a national trainer and technical assistant for several years. She provided technical support on Parent Engagement, Eliminating Racial Disparities and Disproportionality, Building Community Partnerships, and Team Decision-Making to Department of children and family services.. As a reunited parent, her strengths are engaging strategies to create systemic change in social work practice/policy and advocacy.

La Toyia focused on community work, providing motivational presentations, training, and education on substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, and HIV issues. She provided substance abuse assessments for child welfare systems and facilitated crisis interventions for perpetrators and survivors of domestic violence in a women’s drug treatment program. Over the last 17 years, she has promoted change in several government programs, including the California Department of Corrections, the GAIN Welfare to Work program, the California Department of Social Services, and the Women Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program. 

In 2007, she received the California Parent Leadership Award for parents leading the way from Arnold Schwarzenegger office in Sacramento California for her incredible work with changing the policies and practice in the Los Angeles County Child Welfare system.

Ms. Conway-Hampton’s extraordinary survival story and community work has earned media attention. In October 2011, she was one of three domestic violence survivors featured in the Mary Kay Inspiring Stories documentaries which generated over 33,000 internet views to help support Domestic Violence awareness and prevention. It can be viewed at www.MaryKayinspiringstories.com.  A detailed account of her story was published in the Los Angeles Daily News, “Woman Finds Sobriety after Losing Kids,” Amy Darvish, May 7, 2005 and the Los Angeles County Department of Children Family services featured Ms. Conway-Hampton in their publication, “Our Stories: Inspirational Stories of Triumph and Dedication.”

While Ms. Conway-Hampton has achieved great success a change agent for victims of domestic violence, she now seeks to expand her reach and resources to meet the needs of the increasing number of domestic violence survivors in Los Angeles County. She will achieve this objective through the non-profit organization she founded 2011, Two Lifestyles, Inc.
