La Toyia Conway-Hampton

A reunited parent and seasoned change-agent, Coach Hampton equips systems and communities to engage families, advance equity, and build trauma-informed, people-centered practices.

Expertise & Roles

Coach Hampton has served for years as a national trainer and technical assistance provider, supporting public agencies and nonprofits on:

  • Parent Engagement
  • Eliminating Racial Disparities & Disproportionality (ERDD)
  • Building Community Partnerships
  • Team Decision-Making (TDM)

Much of her work has partnered closely with Departments of Children and Family Services, drawing on her lived expertise as a reunited parent to inform policy, practice, and advocacy for systemic change.

Community Impact & Training

La Toyia has focused on community education and motivational speaking across substance use, mental health, domestic violence, and HIV awareness. She has conducted substance use assessments within child welfare systems and facilitated crisis interventions for both survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence in a women’s treatment program.

Over the last 17 years, she has supported program improvement across multiple government systems, including:

  • California Department of Corrections
  • GAIN Welfare-to-Work
  • California Department of Social Services
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program

Awards & Media

In 2007, La Toyia received the California Parent Leadership Award from the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in Sacramento for her leadership advancing policy and practice within Los Angeles County’s child welfare system.

Her survival story and community advocacy have been featured in national media. In October 2011, she appeared as one of three domestic violence survivors in the Mary Kay Inspiring Stories documentary series (over 33,000 online views), available at MaryKayinspiringstories.com.

A detailed account of her journey was published in the Los Angeles Daily News, “Woman Finds Sobriety after Losing Kids” by Amy Darvish (May 7, 2005). The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services also profiled her in Our Stories: Inspirational Stories of Triumph and Dedication.

Mission & Vision

While Ms. Conway-Hampton has long served as a catalyst for change for victims and survivors of domestic violence, she is expanding her reach to meet growing needs across Los Angeles County. She advances this mission through Two Lifestyles, Inc., the nonprofit she founded in 2011, dedicated to strengthening families, elevating survivor voices, and building community resilience.
