Shawna Mills — Biography

Shawna Mills

Survivor • Advocate • Entrepreneur, GlamGloss / GlamGlossKiss

Tonight we honor Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault survivors—the women who walked through fire and don’t smell like smoke. Among them stands Mrs. Shawna Mills.

Roots & First Love

A young woman from Saginaw, Michigan—the birthplace of Stevie Wonder—Shawna met both “heaven and hell” in the same place: middle school. What began as butterflies of young love grew into a six-year relationship, during which she welcomed her daughter. There were no bruises to hide; instead, Shawna endured the invisible wounds of verbal and mental abuse.

Leaving & Surviving

Determined to break free, Shawna ended the relationship and still tried to keep her child’s father involved. The abuse continued. She moved out of state to start anew, but he followed—escalating to stalking and psychological manipulation.

When he couldn’t reach her, he called Shawna’s mother and threatened suicide. Fearing a violent encounter, Shawna locked herself and her child in a room for hours, bracing for the worst. Close to midnight, her brother arrived and got them to safety.

New Beginnings

Back in Saginaw, Shawna reconnected with her junior-high boyfriend. A new chapter opened as a military wife, and the family moved to Texas. In 2019, she launched GlamGloss, a cosmetics line where each shade carries a story and affirmation—encouraging women to step forward in confidence.

Entrepreneurship & Advocacy

Shawna continues her healing journey and raises awareness through her growing company GlamGlossKiss. She is also developing community projects, including a Sneaker Ball scheduled for this October in Texas.
