The She Experience

Shawna Mills

Tonight, we celebrate Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survivors. The women that have went through nightmare after nightmare, who has gone through the fire but don’t smell like smoke. Among the ranks we can find Mrs. Shawna Mills.

Just a young lady from Saginaw Michigan (the birthplace of Stevie Wonder), she would meet her heaven and hell in the same place. Middle school. When Shawna entered a relationship with the young man, butterflies of young love grew. For six years Shawna would stay in this relationship. She would give birth to her daughter in this relationship all the while carrying the trauma of an abusive relationship. In Shawna’s story there was no cuts, hits or bruises to the flesh to hide. She had to carry the toxicity of verbal and mental abuse she would receive from her significant other and father of her child.

After spending years in a toxic relationship with the father of her child, Shawna knew she would have to end the relationship and get out. She would try to keep the father in the child’s life but the verbal and mental abuse would continue. Shawna even went as far as to moving out of state to get away, but he would follow her taking the abuse to a whole new level of stalking and mental mind games.

When Shawna abuser could not get to her physically, he called her mother and told her that he would commit suicide. Shawna’s mother of course worried about her daughter and grandchild told him to go ahead just leave them out of it. Once Shawna heard what her abuser planned to do, she took her child and locked themselves in a room. For hours they sat in that room afraid that her abuser would show up and commit a murder suicide. Hours of mental torture holding on to her baby never knowing if this was the end. Shawna stayed in that room close to midnight when her brother showed up to take her away.

After moving back to Saginaw, Shawna reconnected with her junior high boyfriend and finds herself in a new love story as a Military wife and moved to Texas with her new family. In 2019 Shawana continues to grow and launched her cosmetic line GlamGloss. In her GlamGloss line behind each color is a story/affirmation of encouragement for women to put their best foot forward.

Mrs. Mills is continuing her journey of healing from Domestic violence and brings awareness to through her growing company GlamGlossKiss and working on other Projects such as her Sneaker Ball that will be taking Place this October in the Texas. She is always open to telling her story knowing that
My
